Budget report, utility audit company on council agenda

A budget report and a request for approval for the company selected to conduct a utility audit are on tonight’s agenda for the Ridgecrest City Council meeting, 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers.

Finance Director Rachelle McQuiston will present the updated year-end budget projections.

Council will also be requested to approve Utility Cost Manage-ment LLC to conduct a one-time utility usage and billings audit. A selection committee chose the company from the two proposals submitted. City utility costs top $400,000 annually and are “identified as a possible cost savings opportunity,” according to the staff report.

Items on the consent calendar include a resolution to amend the professional services agreement with Mark Thomas & Company for the West Ridgecrest Boulevard construction project and a request to authorize acceptance of a security agreement, a performance bond and materials and labor bonds from Oriole Homes Incorporated on Tract 6740. Also on the consent calendar are resolutions to recognize “National Donate Life Month” and support “California Safe Digging Month” for April .
