With three of the possible six publicly elected boards up for a vote in the November General Election, numerous local organizations have been hosting candidate forums for the offices of Ridgecrest Mayor, Ridgecrest City Council and IWV Water District Board of Directors.

On Monday, Oct. 1, these events continue with the Ridgecrest Area Association of Realtors forum for water board candidates, held at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers.

Candidates Peter Brown, Chuck Griffin and Stan Rajtora have confirmed their participation, said a spokesperson of RAAR.

On Thursday, Oct. 4, the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce will host a forum for mayor and council candidates at 6 p.m. in council chambers.

The event will begin with a meet-and-greet at 6 p.m.

“The public is invited to meet the candidates running for mayor and city council in a relaxed forum,” said a chamber spokesperson.

“A series of questions to the candidates will be asked by the chamber moderator. The candidates will be given the opportunity to respond publicly.”

A reception will follow.

To submit a question, email chamber@ridgecrestchamber.com no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 1.

“There may not be enough time for all the questions that will be submitted. We appreciate your understanding of the time limitations of this forum,” said the spokesperson.

Ridgecrest Republican Women, Federated, and the High Desert Democratic Club also hosted forums last week.

The News Review will begin publishing campaign statements in October.
