A Ridgecrest Police Department parole search in the 900 block of East California Avenue led to one arrest last week according to an RPD press release.

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, Detective Kyle Cushman and Officer Timothy Plunkett conducted a parole search for Nathan Masner, 42-year-old Ridgecrest resident, who was reportedly in possession of 11 grams of methamphetamine. Officers also found a set of brass knuckles and arrested Masner and placed a parole hold.

After a follow-up investigation, officers reportedly determined that Masner was in possession of a firearm – a criminal offense for a convicted felon. Officers recovered the weapon with assistance from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department Kern Valley Substation.

Masner faces three felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of metal knuckles. His bail is set at $75,000.

His pre-preliminary hearing and confirmation of counsel was Thursday and his preliminary hearing will be Feb. 21, 10:30 a.m. in Ridgecrest.
