The Ridgecrest Chamber Music Society presents the fifth concert of its 2018-19 concert series with a concert on Monday, March 11, with chamber music performed by the critically acclaimed Mandelring String Quartet.

The concert will include music by Haydn, String Quartet in B-flat Major, Op. 103; Beethoven, String Quartet in F Major, Op. 135; and Schubert, String Quartet in G Major, D.887.

The group was formed in 1983 in the German wine region in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, when three Schmidt siblings – Sebastian (violin), Nanette (violin) and Bernhard (cello) – joined with violist Andreas Willwohl in a partnership dedicated to exemplary performances of chamber music.

Their success in winning some of the world’s great competitions – the Munich (ARD), Evian and Reggio Emilia (Premio Paolo Borciani) – launched an impressive international career that brings them to all corners of the globe.

Along with their regular series of concerts in Berlin and Munich and performances throughout Germany, their concert tours have taken them through Europe, annually to North America, to Japan, Central and South America, the Middle East and Asia. Recent appearances have been in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The Mandelring Quartet has enjoyed highly successful appearances at major international Festivals and their own festival, the HAMBACHER MusikFEST, is an annual meeting place for lovers of chamber music from all over the world. Since 2010 the quartet has presented a regular series of concerts in its hometown of Neustadt and in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie, and since 2016 in the Munich Residenz.

“The quartet’s expressivity and remarkable homogeneity of sound and phrasing have become its distinguishing characteristics,” said a RCMS spokesperson. “Don’t miss this exciting concert.”

The concert be at the Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church, at 7 p.m. Tickets ($25 for general admission, $20 per senior and $5per student or active-duty military) are at Red Rock Books, the Maturango Museum, and at the door.
