‘Lenore Nevermore’ tryouts set

Auditions for “Lenore Nevermore” will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2-3, at 6:30 p.m. at Red Rock Books.

The upcoming performance will be the first touring production of the Master Mystery Productions partnership with Ridge Writers and Amargosa Opera House.

“We need and welcome actors of any level of experience to put on this show,” said Writer-Director Daniel Stallings, who drew inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe’s famous poem “The Raven.”

“‘Lenore Nevermore’ is a tale of Gothic romance, murder, mystery and madness set in the outskirts of Paris in the 1850s,” said Stallings.

“A man mourns the suspicious death of the rare and radiant Lenore, who was killed when a bust of Pallas Athena fell from his chamber door. Now tormented by a vision of the statue coming to life and a preternatural raven, our haunted hero must relive his tortured memories to find whodunit, how and why. But is he prepared for the answer he finds?”

Auditioners should come prepared to recite one of Poe’s poems. Roles are available for two females, two males and one gender-neutral performer. Actors must be 15 or older, and anyone younger than 18 must be accompanied by a guardian at auditions and rehearsals.

“Lenore Nevermore” will be performed Saturday, Oct. 19, in Ridgecrest and Saturday, Oct. 26, at Amargosa. Rehearsal dates will be finalized after auditions based on actor availability.
