As live-performance opportunities have waned, local rock band Six Feet Over has turned its attention toward the studio and will release its debut album “Flood” on Monday, July 27.

“We’re really excited to share this album with everyone,” said bass player and spokesperson Ric Soard. “We really enjoy living and playing in Ridgecrest, and although we’re not all originally from here – we call Ridgecrest home. Most of all, we’re really excited to start performing live shows again once we get the all clear.”

All of the band members – David Olson (lead vocals), Michael Murphree (drums, vocals), Brian Bidelman (lead guitar), Brian Holm (rhythm guitar) and Soard – have lived in Ridgecrest most of their adult lives, several settling here after serving in the military.

The band formed in 2014 playing rock and metal covers with its members sharing an “enthusiasm for edgy chords, powerful rhythms, pulsing drumbeats and piercing vocals.” In 2019, they began focusing their efforts on developing more original music.

The result: the band’s first full-length album featuring seven tracks of original material, three of which – “Flood,” “Gemini” and “Black Sails (Radio Edit)” – can be heard now on the band’s website (six-feet-over.com/events).

The full album goes live on bandcamp.com on July 27 and will follow on Apple Music, Google Play, Spotify and other online providers on Aug. 5. Listeners can preorder the album now at 6feetover.bandcamp.com.
