1800 feet of water pipeline removed, replaced by WEKA, Inc. of Riverside CA

WEKA, Inc. of Riverside, is removing approximately 1,800 ft. of 30” CMLC (cement mortar-coated steel pipe) from the Water District’s transmission line on Inyokern Road and installing 30” HDPE (high-density polyethylene) in its place.

The section of the pipe experienced failure due to a localized corrosion issue on December 2nd. The District engaged Farwest Corrosion Control to test the integrity of the pipeline from Pony St. to the District’s A-Zone tank on Bowman Ave. in order to confirm its findings of the extent of the corrosion issue prior to initiating replacement.  WEKA is expected to complete replacement in 20 working days.  /  Laura Austin Photos
