53rd Annual Children’s Christmas Parade bigger and better

By Laura Austin News Review Staff WriterThe 53rd Annual Children’s Christmas Parade sponsored by the Ridgecrest Elks Lodge takes place tomorrow at 9AM.

The theme this year is Peace, Love & Joy. About 40 participating groups consisting of children-themed floats with music, and dancing will march through the center of town, spreading Christmas cheer and joy along the way. This is more than last year’s 30 participants. 

As always, Santa will be dropping in from the North Pole to join the festive event, greeting children young and old bringing Christmas cheer. 

The Ridgecrest Police Department warns motorists of the closure of these streets during the annual Parade Saturday, Dec. 10 from 8:30AM to 11AM the intersection of North Norma Street and West Las Flores Avenue to Ridgecrest Boulevard, and Ridgecrest Boulevard to North Balsam Street to West Las Flores. The staging area for the Christmas parade will be at the intersection of North Norma and West Las Flores and continue southbound on North Norma to West Ridgecrest Boulevard. The route will continue Eastbound on West Ridgecrest to North Balsam.

Several intersections on the route will be closed to through traffic from 8:30 AM until the parade ends at approximately 11AM. People living on the parade route are required to park their vehicles in their driveways for the duration of the parade. “No Parking” signs will be posted 24 hours in advance for the parade route.
