Aguabonita Flyfishers to meet September 6

Aguabonita Flyfishers  Lloyd Smith– The featured speaker for the 6 September Aguabonita Flyfishers general meeting will be Ken Johnson of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Fresno Office.  Johnson will discuss his ongoing work in Golden Trout Wilderness on drought monitoring Volcanic Creek and fish barrier monitoring and restoration on the South Fork Kern River.

Volcanic Creek’s dependence on spring sources for water, small California Golden Trout (CGT) population size, and lack of connectivity to Golden Trout Creek all pose risks to the sustainability of the population. Extended drought conditions make the challenges even greater for the persistence of CGT.

Johnson is an Environmental Scientist with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Central Region.  He is responsible for the Heritage and Wild Trout Program

The Aguabonita Flyfisher program begins at 7:30 PM Tuesday 6 September at the United Methodist Church (639 N Norma).  All fly fishers, want-to-be fly fishers, any kind of fisher, or just interested in fishing are welcome.
