This memorial is a photographic war memorial that honors our country’s military Fallen from The Global War on Terror. Unlike brick-and-mortar memorials, the Always Remember Memorial is designed to travel and includes both military and personal photos of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Freedom is not Free. Its legacy will be that these men and women will be remembered, and their names will be spoken while helping to lessen the grief of their families.
They were serving as a testament to the ultimate sacrifice paid by the state’s military personnel. the memorial honors 727 Californians who have perished in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, including Corporal Patrick Tillman, a California native who left his professional football career to join the U.S. Army and was killed in action in 2004.
Sponsoring the memorial is Operation Family with the support of Desert Christian Center. This memorial is part of the Ridgecrest March of 1000 Flags, to be held on Saturday, September 9th, and the 9-11 Candlelight Vigil, to be held on September 11th.
