Assemb. Fong’s response to a query on the proposed nuclear waste site

Relative to the article published in The News Review on the proposed nuclear waste site in Randsburg, we contacted Assemblyman Vince Fong on how best to register opposition.

Fong’s response to The News Review was:

Vince Fong

I talked to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. They have not been contacted by this individual for a license to open a storage site. They will tell me if they get an application from him. If they do get an application, they think it’s unlikely he would be able to open a site based on what they read in the article just based on safety, environmental, security, and public opinion concerns. The

licensing process could take decades if he is able to move forward, and it involves publishing in the federal register and lots of public comment.
