By Patricia Farris News Review Publisher– The Big Lots chain store located in the Stater Bros. Shopping Center has announced that they are closing their store here in Ridgecrest.
According to a spokesperson who spoke to The News Review, the decision to close was based on the owner of the building stating that he was going to triple the rent. According to the spokesperson, the recent news came as a shock to the employees. He said a definite date had not been set for closure but the goal is to sell out the complete inventory.
The philosophy of Big Lots is to purchase merchandise in big lots and sell at a discount price.
The store opened June 1, 2012. The local Big Lots is currently offering a 20% discount on everything in the store.
Inventory includes: Home furnishings and accessories as well as bedding, kitchen ware, clothing, toys, as well as a large array of packaged and boxed groceries and much much more.
There is no evidence that the stores closing is in any way related to the COVID pandemic.
