RPD Dispatch advised responding officers that a male subject was in the backyard beating on the rear door of the residence, attempting to make entry. Officers who were nearby quickly responded to the location. Upon arrival, officers located the male described in the description in the backyard, still trying to gain entry into the home. Within minutes, officers were able to apprehend the subject and take him into custody.

The suspect was identified as Ridgecrest resident Andrew Salmon.

Due to the quick response of the Ridgecrest Police Department, Salmon was not able to enter the residence. There was, however, significant damage to the resident’s door.

Salmon was taken into custody and booked for attempted burglary and vandalism. He was transported to Kern County booking facility Lerdo in Bakersfield.
