The Desert Area Junior Olympics Track Meet will be held at the Cerro Coso Community College track located at 3000 College Heights Blvd. in Ridgecrest, CA, on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Age groups and an allowable number of events are as follows: Midget (born in 2011 or 2012) Maximum of 3 events, including a relay; Youth (born in 2009 or 2010) Maximum of 4 events, including a relay; and Intermediate (born in 2007 or 2008) Maximum of 4 events, including a relay. This is by USA Track and Field regulations.
California requires that all athletes be of good academic standing and, where applicable, maintain a 2.0 GPA or better to participate in sporting events for a school team. There are no requirements for citizenship; however, each school can make its citizenship requirements for its athlete participation. The school administrator must verify that each entrant meets the California state eligibility requirements.
Students were emailed a link to an interest survey this morning. Please have your child complete the survey from their SSUSD account if they are interested in participating. Ms. Kaufman will be reaching out to interested students and facilitating tryouts.
