Charles Russel Oldfield passed away peacefully the day after Christmas, surrounded by family. Chuck was born to Charles and Leona Oldfield on April 10, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He grew up in Cedar Rapids, and soon after graduating High School, the Army drafted him. He spent two years in North Korea.
After returning home, he got his college degree in Engineering from SUI. The Naval Weapons Center in Corona, California, offered him a job which he gladly accepted, leaving the cold winters of Iowa for the sunny skies of California.
In 1971 the Naval Weapons Center moved his job to China Lake (Ridgecrest), California. He loved the hot weather. Chuck and his wife were avid bowlers and bridge players. He enjoyed camping on the beaches and mountains of California, Nevada, and Utah. He also enjoyed building and remodeling and puttering in the garage. It is said, “He never met a tool he didn’t love.”
Chuck was predeceased by his mother, father, sister, brother, and granddaughter. Chuck is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon, of Ridgecrest; Daughter, Kris Pruner (Jerry), Oklahoma City, OK. Son John (Nannette), Muskogee OK. And Daughter Elyse Stone (Joe), San Diego, CA., five grandchildren, Meagan, Owen, Riley, Dylan, Brody, and 2 Great Grand Children, Carter and Macy.
