Rotary Club of China Lake Steve Boster, President –

On Saturday, March 18, the Rotary Club of China Lake Charitable Foundation hosts their annual Rotary Scholarship Dinner Auction at Ridgecrest’s Kerr McGee Center. In the past 20 years, this event has generated over $300,000.00 in scholarships for area high school seniors.  Last year, the first live event since 2019, more than $80,000 was raised from generous buyers.

Tickets are $35 per person. Contact Rotarians Pam Smith, Betty  Miller, or Patty Wharton. Sponsorship is also available, and parties can get at a table for eight with two bottles of wine included for $500.

The event starts at 5 p.m. with a social hour and Silent Auction. Dinner, catered by Casey’s Steaks & Barbeque, is at 6 p.m. The Elks will operate a no-host bar. The live auction, featuring James Bell as auctioneer, gets underway at 6 p.m.

Among interesting auction items are a “crepes & champagne” event hosted by Dr. Sean Hancock and a “pizza party & wine pairing” hosted by Jim Hoover. Also available for bidders is a weekend stay in Kernville and one at Mammoth. In addition, gift certificates to local restaurants, wine and food baskets, and original artwork are featured in the auction.

Rotarians and high school seniors from all area schools look forward to another successful event that benefits our youth.
