Cindy Ann Bergens

Cindy Ann Bergens (February 11, 1957 – May 16, 2022)

Cindy Ann Bergens, a Ridgecrest native and a long-time resident of Davis, California died on Monday, May 16, 2022. She was 65 years old. The cause of death was Parkinson’s Disease.

Cindy was born at Ridgecrest Community Hospital on February 11, 1957, to parents Andy and Anna Marie Bergens. She attended Pierce Elementary School and James Monroe Junior High School before graduating from Burroughs High School in 1975. While in Ridgecrest, she was active in the Girls Scouts and played the clarinet in school ensembles.

After leaving Ridgecrest, she attended California State University, Chico, and California State University, San Luis Obispo, before graduating from the University of California, Davis in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.

Cindy remained in Davis after graduation and worked for more than thirty years in the Department of Land Air and Water Resources at UC Davis.

Her son, Michael Thomas, was born in 1981 and raised in Davis, where he still lives and works. Cindy was an excellent seamstress and she also excelled in many other crafts. She enjoyed reading, especially Agatha Christie mystery novels. She cared about animals and was  loving mother to two dachshunds.

Cindy enjoyed the performing arts and often attended touring productions in Davis and Sacramento or other performances in the San Francisco Bay area.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Andy Bergens. Besides her son who survives her, she is survived by her mother Anna Marie of Ridgecrest, brothers James and sister-in-law Susie of Medaryville, Indiana, Stephen of Santa Monica, William of West Hollywood, and Paul and sister-in-law Margaret of Ridgecrest, as well as numerous other family relations.
