CLOTA—presents ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ Dec

Community Light Opera and Theatre Association–  Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the famous poem by Clement Clarke Moore, the Community Light Opera and Theatre Association—locally known as CLOTA—presents its annual holiday show this year titled “’ Twas the Night Before Christmas,” and we need actors to help us stage this unique production.

A Reader’s Theatre, written and directed by Daniel Stallings, is about an exhausted theatre troupe at the tail end of their season who struggle to pick a holiday show to close the year…if anything, to stay the eager urging of their perky Director. Rejecting all the “usual” holiday fare, the Director urges his performers to tell an original story. With comic and heartfelt moments, this merry band of actors spans the globe to bring to life several gift-bringer stories from holidays around the world. With humor and heart, the need to share stories with others this time of year resonates within this troupe as they crown off their performance with a dramatic retelling of the famous poem that started it all.

Auditions for “’ Twas the Night Before Christmas” are November 17 and 19, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at CLOTA Center Stage (1425 N. Inyo St.). Actors will be reading selected passages from the original script. To perform, actors must become members of CLOTA. Membership can be bought online at clota.org. Show dates are December 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m.
