Community Clean-Up Saturday

State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)–

The City of Ridgecrest and Caltrans invite the Ridgecrest community to help with the Clean California Community Day Clean-up on Tuesday, March 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The clean-up will start at the LeRoy Jackson Sports Complex. Volunteers will meet at the LeRoy Jackson Sports Complex parking lot at 10:00 a.m. Caltrans will provide trash bags and pickers. Remember to bring a pair of gloves.

Clean California Community Days: Spring into Action are a statewide collection of volunteer service events and celebrations sponsored by the Governor’s Office, Caltrans, and partners across California. The goal is to work together to clean up our communities and spread the word about taking pride in keeping California clean.

The Clean California initiative is a sweeping, $1.2 billion, multiyear clean-up effort led by Caltrans to remove the trash, create thousands of jobs, and join with communities across the state to reclaim, transform, and beautify public spaces. Since launching Clean California in July 2021, Caltrans has removed more than 1.4 million cubic yards of litter from state highways – the equivalent of nearly 24,000 tons or enough trash to fill more than 430 Olympic-size swimming pools – and hired more than 840 new team members as part of Clean California.

Cub Scout Pack #341 and Boy Scout Troop #848 have organized a volunteer clean-up event with support from the City of Ridgecrest. Beginning at 9 am on Saturday, March 18th, scouts and volunteers will be clearing trash accumulation in the lots between Ward and Sydnor along N. China Lake Blvd. The focus will be on trash accumulating against fence lines
