Rocky Hill Northside Archeological Field Trip Saturday, Feb. 4. There are   3 spaces available. Join the Maturango Museum on a return field trip to Rocky Hill, a Yokuts pictograph site near Exeter CA. On this second visit, we’ll see additional pictographs in an area rarely seen by rock art visitors.  Guided by longtime site steward Manual Andrade, we will explore the north side of the knoll on private ranch land. Like the Archeological Preserve on the south side of the hill, this knoll is a special site to the Yokuts people. Our group will be joined by participants from the Tule River Indian Tribe. Cost: $75 a person; includes fees for our guide and a donation to the Archeological Conservancy. Register for the trip by calling the gift shop at 760-375-6900. Limit 10 participants.

Mobility: foot tour will require travel over variable and sloping surfaces, some scrambling may be needed to reach some features of the outcrop. No dogs. Rocky Hill is located about 3 hours northwest of Ridgecrest off Highway 198. We will meet our guide at 10 AM on the outskirts of Exeter. The site tour will take 4-6 hours.

New: the Museum is closed on Mondays. Open 10am – 5pm all other days.
