Donald Wayne Sweany

Donald Wayne Sweany, 71 years of age, was called home on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at home surrounded by friends and loved ones. Donald was born March 5, 1952, in Ridgecrest, California, to the late Donald L. and Delores Sweany. He was educated in the Ridgecrest Public School District. Donald was a local  Business owner until he retired in 2020.

Donald was united in holy matrimony to Colleen Sweany in December of1976. Between the two of them, they were blessed with three daughters and one son. Colleen preceded him in death in February 2016. Donald loved his savior Jesus Christ and loved to read his bible, praying for and with others. He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, golfing, camping, traveling, motorcycling, and taking cruises.

Donald is survived by his children: Lori Johnson of Ridgecrest, California; Tammy (Cedric) Perez of Temescal, California; Kim (Rion) Landrum of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; DJ (Cheryl) Sweany of Ridgecrest, California.

Grandchildren: Christopher Burbey of Phoenix, Arizona; Casandra DeBlieck of Buda, Texas; Reanna Johnson of Ridgecrest, California; Christian Horban of Parker, Colorado; Amanda House of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; Tiffany Orwig of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; Evan Sweany of Ridgecrest, California; Brooke Sweany, of Ridgecrest, California. He has 7 Great Grandchildren, with one due in July.

His brother, Jim (Carolyn) Sweany, sister Debbie (Ed) Copeland, and brother Brian (Sherri) Sweany, are all from Ridgecrest, California. He had eight nieces and nephews: Erica (Mike) Ashley of Ri

He also has 20 great-nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Sweany, his mother, Delores, and his father, Donald Sweany. He also lost a baby girl at birth whom he lovingly called “Baby Girl Sweany.”

The visitation will be held on June 3, 2023, from 10:00 to 12:00 at Holland & Lyons Mortuary. The funeral service will also be held on June 3, 2023, at 2:00 at First Baptist Church, 1350 S. Downs, Ridgecrest, California, with internment at the Desert Memorial Cemetery.
