BY LAURA AUSTIN News Review Staff Writer–

The 54th Annual Children’s Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Ridgecrest Elks Lodge, takes place Saturday, December 9 at 9 AM.

The theme this year is A Care Bear Christmas. Participating groups consist of children-themed floats with music and dancing that will march through the center of town, spreading Christmas cheer and joy along the way.

As always, Santa will drop in from the North Pole to join the festive event, greeting children and bringing Christmas cheer.  The Ridgecrest Police Department warns motorists of the closure of these streets during the annual Parade on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 AM to 11 AM at the intersection of North Norma Street, West Las Flores Avenue to Ridgecrest Boulevard, and Ridgecrest Boulevard to North Balsam Street to West Las Flores. The staging area for the Christmas parade will be at the intersection of North Norma and West Las Flores and continue southbound on North Norma to West Ridgecrest Boulevard. The route will continue Eastbound on West Ridgecrest to North Balsam.

Several intersections on the route will be closed to through traffic from 8:30 AM until the parade ends at 11 AM. People living on the parade route are required to park their vehicles in their driveways for the duration of the parade. “No Parking” signs will be posted 24 hours before the parade begins.
