On the morning of Saturday, June 1, Ridgecrest Police and Kern County Fire Department in the Ridgecrest area were dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 1500 block of North Guam. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-family residence, approximately 1500 square feet in size, with heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the residence.

The first Engine Captain on the scene immediately identified and spoke with the home’s occupants. At the same time, Ridgecrest police officers secured the scene while firefighters pulled hose lines to the front door for an aggressive interior fire attack. After a search of the property, emergency personnel confirmed that all occupants were out of the home and uninjured. The fire was knocked down in less than 10 minutes. Additional Engine Companies were brought into the incident to assist with salvage and overhaul.

The Red Cross immediately assisted the displaced occupants. The Ridgecrest Police Department ensured the area’s safety. Pacific Gas &Electric and Southern California Edison were on-site to manage the utilities during the incident.
