On Tuesday afternoon, Kern County Firefighters and Deputies of the Kern County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of Guam Street to reports of a travel trailer fire. While responding, fire officials noted a large column of black smoke that could be seen from a distance.
As a result, the vehicle fire response was upgraded and reinforced with additional equipment. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fire burning three travel trailers on two separate properties.
An aggressive attack was made on the fire, prioritizing protecting against nearby threats and completing searches for victims.
After a knockdown of the fire was achieved, firefighters remained on the scene conducting overhaul and final victim searches.
Engines from China Lake Federal Fire Department responded as mutual aid to support Kern County.
No victims were found, and there were no reports of injuries to civilians or firefighters on the scene. The cause at press time was still unknown.
