At 9:51 pm on Tuesday night, Kern County firefighters and Ridgecrest Police officers were dispatched to reports of a structure fire in the 300 block of W Church Ave.
A column of smoke could be seen from a distance as responding police officers and firefighters approached the scene. Responders encountered an outbuilding and yard debris well involved with fire, threatening a nearby home.
An aggressive attack was made on the fire to protect the threatened home, while other firefighters entered the house to search for possible victims.
An “All Clear” was confirmed. No persons were found inside the home during searches. Police secured the scene as firefighters continued with fire suppression and inspections for fire extension in the home’s ceilings, walls, and attic.
The coordinated efforts of police and firefighters on the scene achieved a safe, quick knockdown of the fire and spared the home and surrounding residences from significant possible fire damage.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
