Responding resources quickly stopped the fire, which caused an estimated value loss of  $70,000 to the houses. Firefighters battled the blaze with wind gusts up to 40 mph to protect the structures. No injuries were reported.

A second fire was reported Wednesday morning, February 15, shortly after 8 AM. Kern County firefighters again responded to a fire call at 555 S. China Lake Blvd., where at least one room of the Travel Suites Motel was fully involved.
