There is something for every age group, as Sierra Academy of Dance offers several free events. Have a great time, and get your blood flowing at free hip-hop dance classes. Delight little ones at a Royal Princess Ball.
The dates for hip-hop are April 15 and April 29. 1 pm, ages 4-7; 2 pm, ages 8-10; 3:30 pm Open Family Gospel Hip Hop, 4:30 Intermediate ages 10+, 5:30-7 pm Intermediate/Advanced ages 12+.
The Royal Princess Ball on April 22 from 1:30-2:30 pm is a treat for children from 3 to 6 years old who are not currently enrolled at the Academy. Children are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite prince or princess costume. Join favorite princesses in dancing, games, winning prizes, jumping in a bounce house, and feasting on Royal cupcakes and apple juice. Parents must stay in the lobby or outside.
You may have seen some princesses out and about in town. They were a hit at Movie in the Park hosted by Alta One and Ridgecrest Parks and Recreation, where they handed out Easter eggs and had their photos taken with littles.
Hip hop teacher Leia Rae, Choreographer, is new to town. “She is full of bubbly, sparkly energy, and everyone enjoys her,” says Sierra Academy of Dance Owner Cate Demin.
Rae tells us, “Hip hop originated with country music. I know people are shocked by that, just as people are shocked by hearing that fencing was the foundation of ballet. I like to fuse things from country hip hop and lyrical hip hop to gospel hip hop.”
