The Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert Nick Rogers –
The Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert’s Classic Movie Night is pleased to announce a very special film presentation on Wednesday, July 5, at 7 pm at the Historic USO Building, as part of the Society’s “Super Summer Cinema” program playing now through July 19.
The film, a hit with audiences and critics alike, stars Austin Butler as the young and upcoming rock and roll sensation of the 1950s and ’60s. Butler spent years perfecting the look, voice, and mannerisms of the future “King” of rock and roll. His hard work paid off, as his efforts were awarded a Best Actor Oscar® nomination. Superstar Tom Hanks co-stars as the singer’s humorously annoying and somewhat incompetent manager.

Special guests for this evening will be Kim Metcalf and Karen Saaty from one of Classic Movie Night’s loyal sponsors, “Romancing the West.” They will create an impressive rock and roll theme, complete with delicious peanut butter and banana treats! These two talented ladies are sure to impress with their considerable knack for creating special events, as they did at our French Paris fashion-themed program in June.
The movie-loving public is invited to join the fun. The film screens at about 7:15 pm at the Historic USO Building. The Snack Bar will open at 6:30. Admission is by donation only. For the film title, check out the Events Board outside the front door of the building, drop by for a film schedule, or… call 760-375-8456 during Book Shop hours: Wednesday through Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm.
