KCSO requests assistance on Quadruple Homicide in Mojave

Law Enforcement officers responded to a 911 call at 11:20 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at the 15900 block of H Street in Mojave., California.  Officers found four people shot.

Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Deputies arrived on the scene and located the four victims suffering from traumatic gunshot wounds to the head. Victims were Faith Leighanne Rose Asbury, 20, of California City, CA; Marina Barraza Jr., 33, of Mojave; Darius Travon, Canada, 31, of Mojave; and Anna Marie Hester, 34, of Mojave.

According to a public information officer for the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the victims consisted of one male victim and two female victims who were dead at the scene. A female victim Faith Asbury was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

KCSO Investigators are pursuing leads but do not have a suspect or motive for the incident. The office’s public information officer described the investigation as “difficult” due to the limited eyewitnesses to the shooting.

KCSO stated Homicide Detectives are diligently working on this case, actively pursuing leads and conducting investigative follow-up.

KCSO also stated that every homicide involves extensive investigation, including, but not limited to, forensic analysis of evidence, interviews, and following up on investigative leads, which take time.

The Sheriff’s Office said they recognize the gravity of this situation and is working to ensure the investigation is thorough, lawful, and factual.

The department says they are committed to releasing details for transparency while balancing the need to protect the investigation’s integrity.

Postmortem examinations and the processing of evidence seized are still pending.
