By Patricia Farris News Review Publisher– The Kern County Board of Education at its meeting Tuesday, September 6th, voted unanimously for county staff to continue working with the Ridgecrest Elementary Academy for Language, Music and Science (REALMS) to address issues found during their site review. REALMS’ governing board president Elsa Hennings told the News-Review that the Chief Executive Officer Miriam made a presentation to the board summarizing the progress made to date. Hennings said “Of the 181 items that county reviewed there were 26 that needed to be addressed.
Of the 26 items, 12 have been completed and 14 are in work.” She stated that County Board Member Ernie Bell, who represents the Indian Wells Valley, expressed support for public school choice in the community, adding that for REALMS board members, Hogg and staff member Kimberley Atencio attended the meeting. Bell said, “I hope the school will be able to address the issues, they have a big task ahead of them, and the county office has some great people to help.”
