Laws Railroad Museum & Historical Site– Laws Good Ole Days is a long-standing community event since 1977. On Friday, September 1st, 1989, the Old Time Cowboy Poetry and Music Show honored Curley Fletcher for the first time to raise funds for Laws Opera House. In the 2000s, Roberta Matlick did breathe fresh wind into the event, each year centering on a special topic: In 2000 on benefits of not smoking, in 2001 on car history and in 2015 on our armed forces andveterans – to name just a few.
Our new COVID normality has set in, and Laws volunteers and staff are ready to bring back Laws Good Ole Days as the community event of the year. As in the past, we have performances, demonstrations, and activities as diverse as our community. If you want to participate as volunteer, demonstrator, or vendor? Come and join us in our celebration of our community and its heritage. The Laws Good Ole Days will be kicked off with a Dave Stamey Dinner Concert at Whiskey Creek on Friday the 9th. We have limited seating, don’t miss out. Tickets are available at https://LawsGoodOleDays.org. The Saturday event is, as usual, Free of Admission. A suggested donation of $15 (or more) will get you a commemorative Laws Good Ole Days tote. This is a first time, don’t miss out. Totes are available only on first come first serve basis.
On Saturday, September 10, the Laws Good Ole Days invites you to the Laws Railroad Museum and Historical Site. From 11 am to 6 pm we have planned a fun-filled day. Performances, demonstrations and activities will celebrate the Owens Valley history and heritage, the ones that built the home and lifestyle we have inherited and cherish in the Owens Valley today. Throughout the day, delicious food from Rosa’s Mexican or Pino Pies food trucks will keep your taste buds happy and your energy levels up.
All around Laws – 11 am to 3 pm
Come and experience a variety of traditional demonstrations and activities. Watch, learn and get dirty. Our local crafters, participants, and volunteers may offer special items for sale.

Goodent team with Gladys – learn to create reuse art inspired by Gladys, Smokey the Bear – cut with a two-man manual saw a slice of a stomp and brand it. All safely.
Calico Quilters Guild – see the quilt show and get a few quilting tips and tricks.

Ride the rails – using your own power on the hand car, or taking a ride on good ole smokey.

The Bishop Community Band will welcome Sage Romero and the AkaMya Cultural Dance Group: Sage was aptly named, as the definition of “sage” is “a profoundly wise person, especially in ancient history or legend.” Sage Romero can offer another perspective on the “Good Ole Days.”
“Return of Vaudeville!” Fiddlin’ Pete hosts a variety show – turn off the cell phones and return to the time when all music, storytelling, and verse captured you live. Listen to: Coale Johnson, Giacomo Trembelo, Duane Rossi, Jim Cardwell, Michael Tcherkersky and maybe you.

Dance with Sandy & The High Country to Wrap up a Great Day – 4:30 pm
Now, Laws Good Ole Days would not be complete without a Good Ole Dance! Sponsored by the American Mule Museum, Sandy & The High Country will rock at the depot dock from 4:30-6:00 pm, as we dance into the evening shade! Or listen to the music while enjoying a great dinner from Rosa’s or Pino’s food trucks. What a fitting way to end our Laws Good Ole Day.
