Lucille Pinion

Lucille Pinion (89) passed away peacefully in her home Thursday June 16, 2022.  She was born in 1932 in Cove, Arkansas to Olen and Zelma Sullivan. Lucille was the oldest of six, including Jeanette Zimmerman, Jeannie Hammerback, Norman Sullivan, Donald Sullivan and Alice Berry.

Lucille first came to Ridgecrest in 1944 and married Major “Buddy” Pinion in 1949 at the age of 16. After a brief move to Oregon where their first daughter Lucy was born, they returned to the Ridgecrest area in 1952 and had a son, William “Buster” , and another daughter Barbara “Suzi.”

Lucille was very involved in her church including children’s ministry, wedding planning, bible studies and numerous other activities. She enjoyed cooking/baking, crafting, crocheting, entertaining, doing puzzles, playing games, reading and of course she loved her cats. Most of all, she enjoyed people and fellowship.

She shared her wisdom, her faith and her love with many others. Lucille was an amazing woman who loved and was loved by many.

Through her example, she taught us all the important things about life.  Some she taught about God, like the children she taught in Sunday School. Some she taught how to sew or cook or do crafts, like the group of Thursday night ladies.

All of us, she taught how to love. Loving others the way God tells us to is something she did so very well. She loved big and without judgement or condition.

To love and be loved by her was truly a blessing. So although we are deeply saddened that she’s no longer here with us, we are overjoyed that she is celebrating in paradise with the Lord. And we will strive to remember her example and show love the way she’s taught us.  Until we meet again, we love you.

Lucille was preceded in death by numerous family members including her husband Major “Buddy” Pinion and her daughter Lucy May Heter. She was survived by four siblings, two children, eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
