“I am proud to nominate students from our congressional district who display the core values of honor and courage in their commitment to serve our country,” said Congressman McCarthy. “I congratulate each of them in their pursuit to become future leaders in our Armed Services.”

Each candidate was interviewed by Congressman McCarthy’s Academy Interview Committee and the selections were submitted to the Congressman.

Samuel Quick, 21, of Ridgecrest, was a recipient of the U.S. Service Academy. Samuel is the son of Brian and Jessica Quick. Samuel received a principal nomination to the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) from Congressman McCarthy in 2021 and separated from the academy to serve on a mission with his church for two years.

He re-applied and received a competing alternate nomination to attend the USAFA to finish his education.
