Quarter Moon Star Party at Maturango Museum Sat. Oct 1

China Lake Astronomical Society at Maturango Ralph Paonessa– A Quarter Moon Star Party at Maturango will be held on Saturday, Oct 1, 7:00 –10:00 PM Members of China Lake Astronomical Society (CLAS) will set up telescopes outside Maturango Museum for you to gaze at Jupiter, Saturn, and the Moon.

Jupiter is now well-positioned in the sky for viewing. Just after 8 PM, Jupiter’s moon Io will emerge from behind the massive planet and into our telescopes.

We should also have excellent views of Saturn and its beautiful rings as well as our Moon’s surface—craters, mountains, valleys, Mare (seas), and lots of detail.

All ages are welcome. More details at the CLAS website: ChinaLakeAstro.org.

Please check for possible weather cancellations at https://www.chinalakeastro.org/starparty/view.aspx?id=3038

If you have a telescope, bring it and we’ll help you set it up. Otherwise, use ours. Binoculars are great as well.
