For over 23 years, Ridgecrest has come together to honor and remember loved ones in their cancer journey through Relay for Life. Relay For Life is a movement, a community of like-minded survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and participants who believe that the future can be free from cancer. Along with so many other events COVID-19 has affected Relay for Life as well. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our community is currently connecting in different ways. While our fundraising might look different right now, our passion to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer is unchanged.
There are many ways you can get involved and support our Relay mission. Relay volunteers help with registration, logistics, participant support, and other unique opportunities based on the event’s location. Or you can be a Relay for Life participant or team captain and volunteer your time by participating in the event and fundraising. Thanks to its unique volunteer-driven model, Relay for Life is the world’s largest peer-to-peer fundraising event dedicated to saving lives from cancer. We are desperately in need of passionate volunteers who can unleash their creativity and find new and different ways to support Relay For Life and help fund our cancer-fighting work.
Many are hesitant to volunteer due to time constraints, but if everyone could volunteer even a small portion of their time we can make this event thrive again in Ridgecrest. Please join us on June 15th at 6:30pm in the Historic USO Bldg, 230 W. Ridgecrest Blvd. to further discuss our proposed Relay for Life to be held on Saturday Oct 8, from 9:00am to midnight.
Without Community volunteers our Relay will disappear, please don’t let this happen. Please feel free to contact this year’s Chairperson Debby Brickey at 760-608-3954 or email if you have questions or would like to volunteer and are unable to make the meeting on June 15.
