Relay for Life to be held October 8, 9 AM – midnight

Relay for Life of Ridgecrest is rapidly approaching.  This year’s event will be held on Oct 8th, 9:00am-Midnight at the new location of Leroy Jackson Sports Complex, 300 E. French Ave.   Currently there are 15 teams registered and they are hoping to encourage more teams/individuals to register.  For those interested in forming a team or registering as an individual or survivor you can go online at www.relayforlife.org/ridgecrestca.  You do not have to form a team to participate, you are welcome to join other teams or walk as an individual and support the event.  Survivors and Caregivers are encouraged to come to walk the opening lap at 9:00 am, a lap dedicated just to them.

This year’s fundraising goal is $30,000.00 and Ridgecrest has already raised $19,000.00 towards this goal.  We are very fortunate to live in a community where our local businesses and individuals are dedicated to Relay for Life with their generous contributions.  There are several ways to support fundraising, you can dedicate/purchase luminaries for the moving Luminaria ceremony that is slated for 8:00pm. Luminarias can be purchased both online (at the website mentioned above) or at the event. Purchasing luminarias is one way to help celebrate those who are undergoing current Cancer treatment or have survived this dreaded disease and also remember those we have lost. Another way to support the team’s fundraising efforts will be on the event day.  Teams will have many different fundraisers at their team campsites with 100% of their proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society.

Participants are excited to be back in person for Relay for Life and hope to see you there. For additional questions, information or to become a proud sponsor, please contact Debby Brickey at 760-608-3954.
