Residential structure fire on Allen Street

On Wednesday morning, February 28, at 10:25 AM, Ridgecrest Police and Kern County firefighters were dispatched to reports of a residential home on fire at 500 block of S Allen Street in Ridgecrest.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a home approximately 1,500 sq ft in size with smoke visible from the roof. Firefighters made entry to search for occupants inside and locate the origin of the fire.

The fire was located in the attic, so ventilation cuts were performed in coordination with an interior attack on the fire. Firefighters also assisted the homeowner with removing several pets and valuables during the incident. The fire was quickly contained.

Firefighters remained on the scene to assist with securing and overhauling the fire.

No injuries were reported. The property sustained an estimated value loss of approximately $100,000 while saving nearly $400,000 for the residents.

Five engines and four specialty equipment were dispatched, and the fire with 15 personnel.
