RPD arrests burglars with firearms

 Ridgecrest Police Department(RPD) PREPARED BY: SGT. Bill Groves– On Friday, October 28, Ridgecrest Police Officers contacted the victim in this case at the Ridgecrest Police Department. The victim reported that two male subjects, Nicholas Reyes 26-year-old of Ridgecrest and  Adan Cruz 28-year-old of Bakersfield, had broken into his residence and stole several items including firearms, a safe, and clothing. The victim was able to provide surveillance footage of the two subjects in his residence stealing items.

Detectives (Det) and Patrol officers worked quickly and were able to identify the suspects as Nicholas Reyes and Adan Cruz. Detectives were able to contact neighbors on the street and learned that the suspects were driving a white, Ford Explorer.

A short time later, RPD Det. Pietrangelo and Det. Arnold located the suspect vehicle parked in the parking lot at 415 W. Ridgecrest Blvd. Detectives conducted surveillance on the vehicle for a short time until they observed Nicholas Reyes walk through the parking lot. The detectives conducted a high-risk stop on Reyes and he was taken into custody without incident.

Patrol officers and Detectives then surrounded a residence that Cruz was suspected to be inside and ordered him out. He was also taken into custody without further incident.

During the investigation, Detectives learned that the two had dropped off the stolen property at a residence nearby. Most of the stolen property, including the firearms and ammunition, was recovered.
