SAR rescues nine people

Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) –  On Oct. 7 at approximately 3:20 p.m., Kern Valley deputies were dispatched to a Search and Rescue (SAR) call near Hwy 178 west of the Elizabeth Norris off-ramp. Nine people, including three juveniles who were aboard a raft, were stuck in the rapids and could not break free. Kern County Fire Department swift water rescue was called to assist. KCSO Search and Rescue rescued all nine people safely to shore.
