Kern County Sheriff’s Office–
On Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 12:00 a.m., the Army Corp of Engineers began a dewatering project of the Kern River. This took a powerplant offline which caused the water levels to decrease for a short duration. Search and Rescue took this opportunity to continue searching for individuals who had not been found yet and conducted preventative operations by informing the public of the dangers of the Kern River. There were no new body recoveries during this operation.
