Trona Joint Unified School Board names Jerry Jennex as their new Superintendent of Schools

By Cholla Sizemore News Review Contributor–          Trona Joint Unified School District is proud to announce the appointment of its new Superintendent of Schools. After conducting a nationwide search and a lengthy process of gathering input from employees of the District and members of the community, which included the review of several well-qualified applicants recruited by Leadership Associates, the Trona Joint Unified School Board is honored and excited to announce the unanimous decision to appoint Jerry Jennex as the new Superintendent of Schools. The Trona Joint Unified Board of Trustees approved the contract at its regularly scheduled Board meeting on February 8.

The applicants included superintendents, directors, coordinators, and principals.

Jennex is leaving his role as Superintendent of the Globe Unified School District in Arizona, where he has served for 11 years. Before that, he served as the Superintendent of Capac Community Schools for eight years and the Frankfort-Elberta Area Schools for eight years, both districts in Michigan.

He began his teaching career as a high school teacher and principal for 14 years in California and Montana prior to becoming a Superintendent of Schools in Frankfort-Elberta. He is particularly proud of his Districts’ achievements in many areas and receiving awards such as Superintendent of the Year in Michigan, Region V in 2011, all Arizona Medium Districts award in 2018, and Distinguished Administrator of the Year award in Arizona in 2021.

Jennex has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Psychology, and Secondary Education from Grand Rapids Baptist College, a master’s in educational administration from California State University, Long Beach, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from American College of Education.

His leadership and commitment to our students, staff, and community will continue the Trona Joint Unified School District’s mission to educate and empower our students to succeed in college, career, and the community.”

Jennex stated: “I am honored and excited to be selected as the Superintendent of the Trona Joint Unified School District. As an educator dedicated to supporting the growth and success of our young learners, exceptional staff, and wonderful families, I am proud to serve in a new leadership capacity as a member of this wonderful community of Trona. In collaboration with our dedicated staff, families, and the participation of the broader community, I am committed to supporting and fostering academic excellence, launching the new high school with upgraded school classrooms and buildings, and supporting teachers with innovative instructional approaches to ensure the success of every student. I look forward to leading with integrity, empathy, kindness, and dedication to the students in my new school community while building upon the District’s achievements together.”

The School District hosted a meet and greet reception on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 4:00pm-6:00pm in the cafeteria. Parents and community members were invited and encouraged to attend.
