DUI driver collides with another vehicle, causing minor injuries and significant damage to both vehicles

By Laura Austin News Review Staff Writer– On Monday, June 21, at 6:22 PM, Ridgecrest Police and Kern County Firefighters responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision.

Ridgecrest resident Robert Madsen, 43, was driving northbound on North Norma Street when he turned left (westbound) onto Argus Street.

According to Sergeant Bill Groves, Madsen never saw the vehicle traveling southbound on North Norma when he struck it. Madsen was determined to be at fault because he failed to yield to an oncoming motorist before making his turn.

Additionally, it was later determined that Madsen was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

The passenger in the vehicle that he struck sustained minor injuries. Madsen was arrested for driving under the influence and causing injuries.
